Meet Kirsty
Reading Works is led by Kirsty, who provides calm, one-to-one reading and spelling tuition that helps learners build skills and confidence step by step.
Talk to KirstyA different way to learn
Reading Works uses the Barton Reading & Spelling System: a structured, multisensory, phonics-based programme. We link sounds, letters, sight, speech and movement, helping each student understand how reading and spelling work.

Practise through saying, writing and movement.
Understanding dyslexia
Reading difficulty is not a measure of intelligence. Dyslexia can affect reading, spelling, memory, processing and organisation — but it also comes with many strengths, including creative thinking, problem-solving and strong visual-spatial skills.
These signs do not necessarily mean dyslexia, but the right teaching and support can help children learn and thrive.
Tutoring that fits your family
Lessons can take place at your child’s school, at home, from Kirsty’s home-based office, or online.
Barton recommends two 45-minute sessions each week. Once-weekly tuition is also available, with consistency at a frequency that works for your family.
45 minutes — $55
60 minutes — $70
A note on consistency
Regular attendance gives children the best chance to make progress. Tutoring follows the school term, with school-holiday and online options available by arrangement.
For planned absences or illness, please let Kirsty know as early as possible. Where possible, a make-up lesson can be arranged.
